Slip Collar Deets

What are Slip Collars?

These collars are designed to slip on your pup with ease, can be adjusted and worn comfortably for daily use. When using a leash, the collar will gently tighten to prevent slipping off if your dog pulls. No unwanted loose dogs around here!

The best comparison to slip collars are martingale collars which tighten from both ends of the collar compared to slip collars that tighten from one end.

Why Slip Collars?

Aunt Tina and I are huge dog sport competitors and therefore are constantly changing out collars on our dogs for training and competitions. When we purchased slip collars for our boys some years ago, we absolutely loved them because they were easy to slip on/of and were adjustable to our dogs neck BUT they had some downfalls. The collars were constructed with real leather, utilized only jacquard ribbon, had rhinestones adhered (which fell off after a while) and were over $100 a piece!

Together, Aunt Tina and I were able to recreate our version of slip collars using materials that provided the same durability and functionality, utilized vegan leather padding, allowed for better stylish designs and was affordable! Quite frankly, we wanted to create a collar that was truly unique and can't be found at any pet store.

How Durable are Slip Collars?

The foundation of the collars is constructed with heavy duty nylon webbing which provides all the strength. Nylon webbing is what seat belts are made out of, expect we utilize webbing that is a thicker compared to seat belts. Since creating our collars, we have put them to the test with our own dogs. Everything from normal daily wear, going for walks, hunt training, swimming, camping etc. Even our smaller dogs within the pack wear slip collars!

It's time to say goodbye to bland repetitive store bought collars, think cheap nylon collars, broken plastic buckles, loosening metal buckles, collars that always loosen on the dog and most importantly goodbye to unwanted collar slippage!

What Materials Are Used?

  • Foundation - heavy duty nylon webbing provides strength and durability.
  • Designs - grosgrain ribbon provides endless design options and is sewn onto the nylon webbing.
  • Padding - vegan suede leather padding adds comfort while showing a pop of color to compliment the collar design.
    • Original collars utilized vegan leather of various textures and can be seen within out O&Os collection. Going forth ALL collars will utilize only suede vegan leather.
  • Hardware - solid tri-glides and D- rings are utilized. * XS and S collars will use a plastic D-ring to accommodate smaller pups.

How to Clean Slip Collars?

You can spot clean or throw them in the washer with a load of towels or blankets to minimize/prevent hardware clinking within the washer machine. Simply airdry afterwards!

How to Determine the Right Collar Size?

A comfortable collar for most dogs will naturally lay on the lower portion of their neck, thus thus will be the appropriate area to measure. If you prefer for the collar to sit on the upper neck portion, then be sure to measure your dog's upper neck. *Refer to the following images for additional information

Here are a few sizing references:

  • Briggs 95# Curly Coated Retriever - wears XL (can wear XXL on the smallest size on his lower neck)
  • Ledger 80# Flat Coated Retriever - wears L (can wear XL on the smallest size on his lower neck)
  • Banx 30# Standard Dachshund - wears M
  • Millie 11# Miniature Dachshund - wears XS

Disclaimer:

  • We want to be transparent about our collars. We DO NOT advertise that our collars are indestructible! Indeed we utilize materials to provide the best durability possible but just like any other collar, overtime with daily use you will notice wear-n-tear.
  • Some collars will utilize black hardware which will show wear-n-tear overtime. Black hardware specifically can wear off with continuous contact with abrasive surfaces.
